Welcome

Toolangi is a small community established late in the 19th century when timber cutters came to the area for the Mountain Ash Eucalyptus trees and Messmate trees.  The timber from these trees were used as building material, and the timber industry is still operating in the area.  The Toolangi State Forest is also popular with sightseers and walkers.  Toolangi is approximately 70 km NE of Melbourne in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range.  It has an altitude of between 400 and 600 metres above sea level.

The Toolangi Rural Fire Brigade is a wholly volunteer member brigade and operates under The Victorian Country Fire Brigade (CFA).   We aim to protect and assist the community from fires and other emergency situations and we are involved in informing and educating the community in fire prevention and safety programs.

Toolangi Fire Station

Toolangi Fire Brigade is always looking for new members, particularly those people who can turn out during the day.  After you get in touch with the brigade, we will send you an information and application pack.   Once we receive the application form and associated information, we will send it to the regional office for processing.  The CFA will train you in all aspects of fire fighting including basic fire ground practices, pump operation and fire safety awareness.  The CFA number one priority is safety.
